About

Dr. Lana Kanaan—known to many as Dr. K—is the founder and driving force behind K Smiles Dental Care. Inspired by a family of renowned healthcare professionals, her passion for dentistry began early and has only deepened over the years. After earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery with Honours from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2010, she spent several years practicing in Waterloo before following her dream of opening her own clinic. In 2018, she brought that vision to life with the launch of K Smiles Dental Care right here in Oshawa.

Experience & Training

For over a decade, Dr. K has focused her training on cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry, with advanced expertise in oral surgery, implants, and smile design. She holds a Fellowship in Implant Dentistry through the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and has received the Excellence in Cosmetic Dentistry Education Award from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Her clinical strengths include Orthodontics (braces and clear aligners), Root Canal Therapy, Veneers, Crowns and Bridges, and Full-Mouth Rehabilitation. Dr. K is also a committed lifelong learner who regularly attends international seminars and dental conferences to stay at the forefront of innovation and care.

Dr. K's philosophy is rooted in empowerment and education. She believes that every patient deserves a safe, welcoming space where they feel heard, respected, and supported in making informed decisions about their oral health. She and her team take the time to understand each patient's unique needs, concerns, and goals—then work together to create personalized treatment plans that fit both lifestyle and budget.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. K is a proud family-first kind of person—deeply grounded in her role as a daughter, sister, aunt and loved one. Her strong sense of care and support extends well beyond the dental chair and into every aspect of her life. She’s known for her genuine nature and her unwavering desire to help others grow, heal, and feel empowered.

Dr. K is constantly seeking personal and professional growth, whether that’s through attending international dental conferences or diving into her latest health and wellness podcast. She’s also a big fan of staying active—you’ll often find her outdoors hiking, biking, or catching a game of just about any sport. And when it’s time to unwind, nothing beats a peaceful beach vacation where she can soak in the sun and reset with intention.
